Quarantine container for recovery and towing

Store and transport in the same unit — documented, billable and without a cordoned-off zone on your yard.

Dry Fire Con as a roll-off container on the transport vehicle of a recovery company

Towing companies that take over a damaged electric vehicle store it on a quarantine parking space with a safety distance, because a damaged lithium-ion battery can catch fire with a delay. On 4 May 2026, the Regional Court of Koblenz (Landgericht Koblenz) ruled that the acute fire risk has generally passed after around five days. This shifts the business calculation from long standing times to safe throughput — and that is exactly what a closed, tested container is built for.

What changes in day-to-day operations

For recovery and towing companies, profitability comes down to three things: how quickly a vehicle is off the yard again, how robust the item on the invoice is, and how much space stays permanently tied up.

Recover and store in the same unit

The container is certified by TÜV SÜD for load securing to VDI 2700 Part 8 and approved for vehicles up to 4,500 kg. The vehicle is loaded once and does not have to be reloaded for removal.

Storage becomes documented

Instead of an improvised cordoned-off area, there is a tested measure backed by a certificate number, an expert assessment and a fire test report. That is the difference between a disputed and a justified item on the invoice.

Throughput instead of standing time

Since the ruling of the Regional Court of Koblenz on 4 May 2026, the higher billing rate is limited to the acute phase. The economic lever therefore lies in handling many cases safely and quickly — not in leaving one case standing for a long time.

No cordoned-off zone on the yard

An open quarantine parking space with a safety distance quickly ties up around 200 square metres, where eight to ten vehicles could otherwise stand. The container needs its own footprint and nothing else.

Also permitted for damaged vehicles

A dangerous goods expert assessment evaluates the use under ADR 2025: damaged vehicles whose battery cannot be removed safely may be carried under special provision 667 b) (ii).

No fire water, no hazardous waste

Water-based quarantine methods produce contaminated fire water that has to be disposed of as hazardous waste. The dry AkkuGrain system does not have this follow-up effort.

Suitable systems

For recovery and towing companies, the Dry Fire Con is usually the right choice. All test bases are documented with number and date.
