Waste management companies, recycling centres and recyclers accept lithium-ion batteries with very different histories: mechanically damaged, deeply discharged, unclearly classified or simply without any information. The Dry Fire Storage provides an enclosed, water-free outdoor storage space for them — tested in a real fire test by Fraunhofer HHI against the criteria of packing instructions LP906 and P911.
What changes in day-to-day operations
The difference from other waste streams is the unknown condition: you often cannot tell from the outside whether a delivered battery is damaged. That is exactly why you need a place that holds even when something goes wrong.
Acceptance despite an unknown history
Delivered batteries arrive without a test record and often without any information on their condition. The granulate is already inside the container and works without being triggered — protection does not depend on someone assessing the risk correctly beforehand.
The evidence authorities and insurers want to see
The container was tested in a real fire test by Fraunhofer HHI against the criteria of packing instructions LP906 and P911, with a fully charged 100.8 kWh vehicle battery. A test report with number and date is available.
Separate from the building, without construction work
The container stands outdoors on any paved, level surface and needs neither a foundation nor a power supply or fire water connection. The hall, the sorting line and the workforce stay out of it. Whether a permit or consultation with the authorities is required in an individual case depends on the applicable building regulations, the location and the use.
No fire water, no additional hazardous waste
Water-based methods produce contaminated fire water that has to be retained and disposed of as hazardous waste — of all places in a business that already manages hazardous waste. The dry system does not have this follow-up effort.
Water protection without converting the site
The integrated collection trays prevent substances hazardous to water from escaping. The design follows the German AwSV ordinance and the related guidance sheet of the joint federal and state working group (Bund-Länder-Arbeitskreis).
Rental for peaks and temporary requirements
If volumes fluctuate seasonally or a requirement only applies for a limited period, the container comes to your site and goes back afterwards.
Separate packaging requirements apply to the carriage of damaged lithium-ion batteries under ADR. Talk to us about which container is the right one for your transport case.
Suitable systems
For accepting and storing batteries, the Dry Fire Storage is the right choice. All test bases are documented with number and date.
